DIY Lip Balms and Lotion Tubes

Lip balm and Lotion Tubes

4 oz. Beeswax

6 oz. Coconut Oil (or 2 oz. Aloe Butter & 4 oz. Coconut Oil)

8 oz. Cocoa Butter

Essential Oil if desired – 10-20 drops per 2 oz. of lotion

Place ingredients, except essential oil, in a glass liquid measuring cup. Fill a medium saucepan half-way with water and place the liquid measuring cup in it over medium heat. Be sure your measure cup is slightly raised from the bottom of the saucepan with a canning lid or other similar object.  Melt the waxes and oils.

Each container will tell you how much it will hold. A standard lip balm tube holds about .15 oz. and a hard lotion tube holds about .7 oz. To be sure you don’t waste any, weigh the liquid before adding your essential oils

Fill half-way, allow to cool slightly, continue pouring until it is domed on the top.  It will shrink as it cools.
